What on Earth is going on around here? Covid is wreaking havoc on our lives! How did something we just heard about happening in China become a global pandemic in such a short time?? I am from Ontario, Canada and two weeks ago we were told that there was no threat, then a week ago one case in Hamilton where I live, then two days ago 100 cases in Ontario and yesterday over 200 cases! AHHHHHH! Mania has set in and we are all going mad about it!!
And it’s true, the toilet paper aisles are completely empty! No toilet paper??? No Kleenex and no paper towels unless you are in the mood to fight someone down for it! People are stockpiling everything that even Mr. Noodle is nowhere to be found!
We went from la la la land to raising an eyebrow to PANDEMIC in just a few weeks! And the attitude out there is FEND FOR YOURSELF LEST YOU DIE!!!
I have to admit that I am probably far too chill about the whole thing. I don’t even watch the news! Now though, everywhere you go, all that is streaming is Covid. Covid this and Covid that! Everyone is in quarantine having nothing better to do, but to be glued to their TV sets wondering what the heck is going to happen next? Fear and panic is everywhere!
But Is it Really the End of the World?
Did God really say that we were actually in for a doomsday apocalyptic fall out and humanity will be no more? Why do I feel fine? What does the Bible really say about all this craziness?
Hitting Rock Bottom Means We Can Only Go Up From Here!
All of these crazy apocalyptic things have to happen for us to see that we are in need of a reality check. The world is dying and this does affect everyone. It isn’t until everything is taken away from us that we are truly humbled realizing that we are in trouble. Only during that time, some of us might consider we need to change! Hitting rock bottom might not be such a bad thing — IF WE CAN LEARN FROM OUR MISTAKES AND TELL OUR EGO TO TAKE A HIKE. The bottom line is — we are the ones who are responsible for all these disasters. (See Isaiah 24)
End of a Dark World
End times are end of dark days. Dark days are the worst of the worst days, but there is hope since God promised us Heaven on Earth. The upside to all this chaos is that we can be sure we will soon experience the opposite. If we believe, then we have died to our old self and our old ways. We have nothing to fear since all this craziness has to happen to shake up the rest who need to understand who they truly are. That is when we can learn to love ourselves by doing what is good for ourselves by God’s standard and not our own. That is when the world will be right again.
Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-5
