God, Poetry, Thought-Provoking

Before

All was so perfect before what was time,
Before committing our very first crime.
I’m sorry because I didn’t even know,
Our love would be altered from so long ago.

On that day, I only wanted what was good,
To keep our love that I’ve known since childhood,
I saw that fruit and thought we could eat,
I hadn’t realized our life would now repeat.

Over and over until we’d get our bearings right,
Now having to survive what would become an internal fight.
Out of our garden where perfection used to be,
To a place of confusion where our love we cannot see.

I yearn for the day when you’ll remember my name,
No longer hiding from each other because of all the shame.
Our love that runs deep, I simply can’t ignore,
As I yearn for the garden as how it was just before.
