Breaking Free from Chains of Untruth

There are three thoughts that determine the outcome of our circumstances:

  1. I can change,
  2. I will change, or
  3. I can’t change.

If my thought is that I can’t change, then I won’t. If I believe that I can’t change then I have already deemed myself not able to — That will leave me with no choice but to accept my fate as it is. I’ll be forced to accept behavours about myself that I don’t like and be hindered from having a better life.

It may seem easier to simply accept the things that you do not like about yourself or your situation, at first. But after awhile you will find yourself frustrated, not happy, and not achieving the things that you want.

Lost Hope

Has the world labeled you? Have you convinced yourself that you are broken and will always be broken? Did the world make you feel that there is no hope for you to change or to have the ability to rise above what ails you?

Do you believe the world or do you believe what God tells you about yourself?

The Bible says that we only need a small amount of faith and nothing will be impossible for us:

If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”

Matthew 17:20

It is Possible to Change

Be in control of your bad behaviour — Don’t let your bad behaviour control you.

“Choice starts with your thoughts. Your thoughts become your words. Your words become your actions.” — Nicky Gumbel

It is important to recognize our negative self-talk, negative relationships, and negative circumstances. For every moment, it is necessary to choose positive, life-giving thoughts that will lead to positive actions to understand God’s truths and love that is within you.

Bring to Light what is in the Darkness

Expose the lies! Understand what are lies that you choose to believe about yourself. Bring lies out in the open and fill them with God’s truth, so that you can be healed from them.

Understand that a lot of our bad behaviours are because we are not being honest with ourselves. Recognizing all the untruths in our lives and calling them out for what they are is recognizing what is truth. Healing is seeing the truth in our self and recognizing that truth is good.

The more we notice what is good, the more the bad will go away.

All Attributes of Goodness is God

A perfectionist can be very hard on themselves about what is not perfect.

Notice what is good and perfect instead of dwelling on what is bad — Own what is good and be transformed!

We all have the power within ourselves to change. The Spirit of God is within each and everyone of us — All we have to do is start recognizing Him.

Teshuvah means repentance, which means returning back to self. If we find our true self then we are guaranteed to also find God — An encouraging Rosh HaShannah message by Rabbi David Aaron.
