Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire!

What does truth mean? Is truth good? Should truth be something we desire to know and understand? Is truth supposed to be universal?

The Bible speaks a lot about truth. There are too many references to quote from the Bible about truth because God is truth. God is what is, what was and what will be. He is all things that are good and true.

God created humans to understand truth. In the garden the serpent said this to Eve about the fruit of the tree of knowledge:

For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.

Genesis 3:5

Today, we know that the serpent tricked Eve because before eating from the tree of knowledge everything in the garden was perfect and without sin; but the truth is that we were created to understand the difference between good and evil. We were created to choose good, but God wanted that choice to come from us. God created the tree of knowledge and the serpent to give us the choice of wanting to know truth. The only way to know was to give us an experience of truth.

We have learned that because of our sin, we have an existence of downfalls that have shortened our lifespan and caused us to die. Sure our physical bodies die, but the truth is that we live eternally if we believe in the truth of God.

God has compassion on us since we could not have known what He knows when He created us. We were just children with a very childlike understanding. We did not know the difference between what was good or what was evil — We just existed in a la-la land of purity and goodness.

Today, we can look back at an existence of time that has passed and at a history of failures. We realize that we are not like how we were in the beginning because now we know what is truth.

We now know the difference between what is good and what is bad and we have the power within ourselves to choose what is good.

The Integrity of Truth

Truth is God. If God is within us then we have to be cognizant of Him always. God is more than a super-power outside of ourselves. A history of time has passed and God has now revealed Himself to us intimately. We know God because we know the difference between good and evil and we know what is good; therefore, we know God because He is good.

Truth is being real and honest about the truth of God in you

Stop lying to yourself by letting the oppression of the world get you down or take things away from you that God has given you. You are no longer in Egypt. You are no longer slaves to this world, so believe in the truth of God that is in you.

Believing in God is standing up for God. God does not like liars. A liar is the opposite of God. Lying to ourselves is lying to God. Lying to ourselves is not believing in God. The more we stand up for God in ourselves for the things that are true, the more we expose evil.

We are in a spiritual war: Evil will try to steal away the God in you if you are not careful to stand up for God in you.
