A building can hold things. It can keep a person warm and give them a feeling of being safe. A building can hold people who are like-minded to give them the ability to work together for a common goal.
God instructs His people to make a sanctuary, so that He may dwell with them:
Then have them make a sanctuary for me, and I will dwell among them.
Exodus 25:8
Our bodies are like a building since if we desire to be good then we are striving to be holy. Being holy can also be described as being “whole-ly” since if we are striving to know and understand what is good, which is God and apply what is good or what is God to ourselves then we will begin to understand who we are in a whole way with God — We become holy.
How to Make God 100% You
We have a difficult time believing in ourselves. Why do we not believe in our fullest potential? What is stopping us from achieving and achieving even more? We can believe that there is a good God, but we have a difficult time identifying with Him in ourselves. Why is that?
We know that God is an amazing, powerful, super-natural Deity. It makes sense that we would have a hard time believing that this amazing Deity could be dwelling within ourselves. However, if God is so amazing, then why is He not amazing in us? What are we doing wrong?
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.
1 Corinthians 6:19
We seem to be attached to the building, only seeing a physical empty building, not understanding that the building is there to hold something of greater purpose.
How to Believe in More of God
We can believe in the idea of God that God is Creator; therefore, we can be mindful of Him externally, but how do we identify with Him personally?
God wants to be part of us internally. Our biggest barrier is that we need to believe that God can live within ourselves. How amazing is it that an all-powerful God can live inside us! — We just have to want Him there.
We can believe in God in our building (body) by allowing goodness to consume our thoughts and actions. We will always struggle with our own ego in the process, but the more we trust God’s way, the more we will identify with our true-selves which is the piece of God in us.
We can begin to understand God in us, internally, as we can see the traits of Him in ourselves that we have learned about Him externally. We can begin to understand the traits of God that become who we are.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Galatians 5:22-23
As we are able to recognize God, it is important to recognize God in all things. When we see God in someone else (goodness) then God is speaking through that person. It is important to recognize Him in others because that is how we bring more of Him into the world. Acknowledging God is how heaven will consume the thought of every mind and eventually come to be here on Earth, internally as we know God externally.
