Be Blessed
Has it always seemed as though you can never get ahead? You start to loose hope as everything around you takes advantage of everything about you. You give, give, give, but never get back? You quietly sink into your famous corner and as usual you never say a word. Is this you? Are you a giver, but you don’t know how to take, or maybe you feel guilty if you do?
My motto is this:
You are never good to anyone else, unless you learn to be good to yourself. Shannie Alvarez
The Golden Rule
The golden rule DOES NOT say this: “Be a floor-mat and let people walk all over you.”
THE REAL STATEMENT
It is important to treat people the way we would want to be treated, however, sometimes we loose sight of how we want to be treated. We are so busy loving one another that we don’t see that we are not loving ourselves.
Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these. Mark 12:30-31
In other words, God wants us to love ourselves FIRST. Since we are made in the image of God, we learn who God is. We learn that God is love, therefore, we learn how to love ourselves FIRST. When we know love THAN we can know how to love one another, but first we need to love ourselves.
It is okay to have a voice. It is okay to know what is right for you because you can only be right for someone else when you have the things that are right for you first. You are first – God said so.
You are the Poor in Spirit
No longer are you oppressed by the wants of your surroundings that you devoutly cater to. You can love them all, but first take care of yourself, and don’t let them take you for granted anymore. Don’t let them try to tell you who you are or how you should be because you have a voice and you are your own person. It is okay to tell them how you feel.
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3
For too long now, you have taken care of everyone around you and have neglected yourself. Learn who you are since God wants you to know the blessing He has in store for you.
It is time to let that lion voice come out.
