Wasted Pearls

The inward cry reveals a lesson well taken,
T'was a vulnerable heart causing lies to awaken.
Time left abandoned all squandered away,
The healthy giver had just one thing to say.
Yet cruel intentions betrayed her unaware heart,
Since remnants of deception loitered from the start.
Alliance of devotion now lifeless and astray,
Trampled by the feet where unwanted pearls lay.

Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces — Matthew 7:6
