To all the Christian’s out there who claim to have better insight implying that others might be forgetting who their first love is (Jesus) here is my rebuttal:
In fact, what does the bible actually say about who is our first love? Revelation 2:4 and 5 states,
But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.
Revelation is very clear that them that abandoned the love you had at FIRST have fallen. It reminds us to repent, and do the works you did FIRST. This sounds very clear to me.
Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says the Lord: “Israel is My son, My firstborn. Exodus 4:22
It began with Israel. A nation of people who represent God to the world, no longer in bondage, removed from slavery to a free Israel. Them that are with God are no longer in bondage to world because they know how to live for God. Loving God means we are no longer slaves to worldly sins. God gave us Israel and His commandments to show as the way to live out of bondage, to be free, happy, and to know love.
“When Israel was a child, I loved him, And out of Egypt I called My son. Hosea 11:1
We who are His, are part of Israel, we are God’s sons and daughters. If we love than we desire to honour and obey Him.
“At the same time,” says the Lord, “I will be the God of all the families of Israel, and they shall be My people.” Jeremiah 31:1
The people of Israel are the people who love God. You will recognize them since they desire to keep God’s commandments.
Jesus was a prophet who represented God. He kept the commandments of God and he tried to teach the people where they were going wrong in understanding who God is. He was trying to teach the people to repent of their old ways of understanding, and understand that God is love. Believing in the message Jesus preached meant believing in the God of Israel, and for everything that God taught his people to do. This was the message of a man who came in the name of God. Then and now we are all in ignorance because we chose to be defined by religion over loving God.
Christianity makes Jesus a god and gives him a look that misrepresents who the true God of Israel is. Roman beliefs of idolizing people and making them gods influenced the way Christianity believed in Jesus. He is worshipped and idolized when God clearly says we will have no other gods other than Him. Jesus is not God, he is a man, a prophet, who represents God.
I believe we forget who our FIRST love is when we forget who is the God of Israel. We know him truthfully through how he told his people to live by Him and through believing in the message of Jesus who teaches us who is God.
Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. John 14:23
