Growing up these days can come with great difficulties since it is in our being to belong, but knowing to what can be confusing. We yearn for connection, even at times, at no matter what the cost is. For many of the less fortunate belonging doesn’t come easy. Where has our world gone wrong when there are so many problems with fitting in and connecting, but how does one connect with something that is good and right for the soul? When do we know that we are on right paths that will lead us into a healthy lifestyle and pattern of thought when our environment so often isn’t providing the healthy standard we may or may not realize we so desperately need. Problems exist at every corner, in every home, school, work environment, government; mainstream music is filled with toxic messages and media caters to shock audiences by pushing the limits of moral decline. Our attraction to what is wrong is stronger than our attraction to what is right. What is considered good is now considered bad and what was bad is now considered good. Where do we draw the line and is there a line any more anyway? How do we get to a good place and what and where is that place anyway?
To love is to know love, and love conquers all, but what is this love? How do we love our neighbour or should we love our neighbour? Does true love exist or does it even matter? Don’t we need to know love to be able to share love, and to even want to share love?
We are designed to be connected, and by God’s law are meant to be One, but more and more we are confused at this existence, at our own existence, since most don’t know who we truly are, and how to function at our best. We sense, but fail to see that we need direction.
We need to understand heart and root.
In every being is beauty. In every being is an opportunity of truth to themselves to discover themselves in a very profound way. Since we are all interconnected, at the heart, we all need one another to learn from to support and grow with. We are not designed to be alone to live for ourselves, but are designed to work together as a unit. We need God to understand ourselves, but we don’t live for ourselves. We need independence, but learn it by having dependence on God. Our strength is to function together as One.
If we want to understand a good way, we need to understand history and learn, see our mistakes, and understand why we are here. In each of us is divine purpose. Notice religion within history, learn from it, but have faith because we believe there is a root to every thought and every action. Desire good since good is good for you and good for everybody.
Our lives teeter on this single truth; Only God is good, only God is love, and there is only One God.
Where does God exist? The rabbi asked several of his followers.
“Everywhere,” the surprised disciples responded.
‘No,” the rabbi answered. “God exists only where man lets him in.”
Joseph Telushkin, Jewish Wisdom
Without a love of humankind there is no love of God.
SholemAsch, What I Believe
For every faithful Jew the following prayer is recited twice a day, once in the morning and once before going to bed:
Hear, O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One.
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your might. And these words which I command you today shall be upon your heart. You shall teach them thoroughly to your children, and you shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road, when you lie down and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign upon your hand, and they shall be for a reminder between your eyes. And you shall write them upon the doorposts of your house and upon your gates.
And as we read on from Deuteronomy 6:4 we are promised good things when we understand God’s way…
we eventually learn love.

Wonderful post. Like a tree, it takes time for our roots to grow deep and its branches to grow tall and wide. It takes light, and tender care and nurturing. We must do the same for ourselves each and every day slowing learning how to love and growing closer to God.
